Glass Seed Beads. Seed beads are small, usually mass-produced beads. They are meant to be sewn on or woven into patterns to give movement, and color to an object. Most are made of glass. It is believed that the Egyptians first used faience (a glazed fused quartz composite) but later developed methods of using glass to make beads and other decorations.
